Home Sweet Home

Earlier this spring, Paul Forziano and Hava Samuels were denied the right to live together as man and wife.  I covered their predicament in an earlier post.  Good news folks, they’ve been offered a joint placement!

Paul and Hava are very eager to begin living together as a married couple.” Say the couples attorney’s in a letter written to U.S. District Judge Leonard D. Wexler.

On July 1st the lovebirds will roost together at a Riverhead, N.Y. group home. Newly renovated to suit the couple, the room received a swift stamp of approval on a recent tour.

Steps are being taken to ensure that this is a long term happy solution for the pair.  Their families are requesting that the couple be allowed a 30 to 90 day trial before committing to the new supports.

Congratulations Hava and Paul!  Best of luck to you on your first home together as husband and wife.

Inclusion System extends our profound respect and immeasurable gratitude to all the ancestors and keepers of the land on whose traditional territories our work takes place. We acknowledge that we are on Treaty 1 territory, the traditional gathering place of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota and Dene people and the traditional homeland of the Métis people. This land is sacred, historical, and significant.

Every time we acknowledge this truth, we have an invitation and an opportunity to reflect on the wrongs of the past, what we do in the present, and what we can do to continually honour the people whose lands and water we benefit from today.

This statement only acts as a first step in honouring the land we reside on and its peoples, and must be paired with education, understanding and informed action.
