Blind Soccer League in Brazil

Since FIFA soccer fever is rocking the world right now, I thought this video was apropos.  It’s celebrating love of sport and embracing people’s strength and possibilities.

Brazil currently has a blind league with 40 clubs.  Players play blind folded.  The goal keeper is the only one who see’s the action in a traditional sense and the ball ‘rattles’ so players can find it.

Watch the short documentary by the New York Times below.  The players share their insights, love of the game, and team strategies for navigating a seeing persons world.

You guys following the FIFA World Cup action in Brazil?  Who are you cheering for?
