Love, Marriage and a Wheelchair

I think this video does a great job of sharing a positive and successful marriage of diverse abilities.

In the video, Adam and Anna freely discuss how they came to date and their past relationship history pre-marriage.  Adam has been in a wheelchair since he was 16 and had a short resume in the dating world.  Anna had multiple marriages under her belt and her biped abilities intact. They discuss some of the unique challenges Adam’s partial paralysis brought to their relationship; which is mostly how irritating Adam finds it not to be able to change a light-bulb.  Anna reflects on how Adam is the more capable of the two of them.  Although he is the one perceived as having a disability; she feels he’s better at relationships and does more of their household chores, etc.

It’s a great, balanced look at their marriage and every day life.  They’re equals, that respect and love each other.  😀  Who could ask for more?

The dating world of people living with disabilities is often limited by their perceived lack of ability.  I’m stoked Anna and Adam were brave enough to share their experience.  Stories like theirs do so much to help bring down barriers and promote inclusion.
