Why bother?

Why bother trying to be a better leader? It’s a lot of work.

But if you can …

  • gather the right people for the right jobs,
  • make each individual feel listened to and respected,
  • create an atmosphere where everyone knows why you do what you do and what their role is in it,
  • foster a culture where people respect and care for the success of one another,

Then you will create something special. Something rarely seen.

Great leaders are not the ones you hear about. Great leadership is not taking names and kicking butts and becoming famous.  Great leadership does not offer fame and fortune.

What great leadership does offer is an incredible feeling of having helped another person. No matter what industry you are in, no matter how unsexy what you do is, the rewards of knowing you have made a real difference in the life of another person is immeasurable. A great leader gets good at helping others and as they get better at it they are able to help more people.

Seems pretty inspiring to me.

Inclusion System extends our profound respect and immeasurable gratitude to all the ancestors and keepers of the land on whose traditional territories our work takes place. We acknowledge that we are on Treaty 1 territory, the traditional gathering place of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota and Dene people and the traditional homeland of the Métis people. This land is sacred, historical, and significant.

Every time we acknowledge this truth, we have an invitation and an opportunity to reflect on the wrongs of the past, what we do in the present, and what we can do to continually honour the people whose lands and water we benefit from today.

This statement only acts as a first step in honouring the land we reside on and its peoples, and must be paired with education, understanding and informed action.
